Busy Weeks Ahead

Friday, April 10, 2009

The clock is ticking towards the UK and Canadian release of Library of the Dead in May. I'll be in England doing some publicity the third week of May.

Meanwhile things are going swimmingly in Germany where reader comments are still strong and the book (Die Namen der Toten) remains, for the fifth straight week, on the bestseller list.

Off to the Dordogne to do research on my third book, The Perigord Manuscript, set among the prehistoric painted caves of the region. It's a pity that mold has completely shut down Lascaux, but Lascaux II is still worthwhile and many original caves and grottos are open for view.

Recently acquired this amazing painting by the New Mexico artist, Thomas A. Baker, a faithful reproduction of the famous Bison Hunt from Lascaux, ~16,000 BP. It's hanging above my writing desk and is egging me on.

Having just read an ARC of "Secret of the Seventh Son", I was not even slightly surprised to read that it has remained on a best seller list for 5 weeks. Won't surprise me a bit to see that happen here in the US as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, staying up much too late and finishing it the following morning as I drank my coffee. Beautifully written, eerily plausible, and makes me half-wonder if the alien story isn't indeed just a myth. I won't forget this book quickly, that's for sure.

Went ahead and posted comments in both B&N and GoodReads. I do wish you the very best!
